Juicy J added, "We're just getting in the studio and putting together some more tracks for her. From there, we'll see, but it will be a blast working with Paris Hilton. I mean, she is Paris Hilton."

Notorious BIG Family Gets 1.1 Million Dollars

The Los Angeles City Council approved a $1.1 million payment to the family of the late Notorious B.I.G. (Christopher Wallace). The award was a sanction against the city of
Los Angeles for allegedly intentionally concealing evidence during the family's civil lawsuit trial, which ended in a mistrial.

Black Eyed Peas And Interior Design

Black Eyed Peas have partnered with the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego to create their own customized $1 million Rock Star Suite. The group will hand-pick everything in the room. Will.I.Am told allhiphop.com, "Hard Rock is a brand that has always been true to its core, and I really dig the direction these guys are headed in
San Diego. When I heard about this project, I knew I had to be a part of it, and what we're going to do will be outrageous and, at the same time, benefit the Peapod Foundation and children all over the world. All the band — Fergie, Apl.de.Ap, Taboo, and I — will have input, so it's going to be a great time for us all."

Mariah Planning for Christmas

Mariah Carey is making headway on a holiday musical that's expected to debut on TV and the stage. According to MTV.com, she plans to create, produce and star in the production. Although she won't divulge any specific details, Carey revealed that she just signed on with a big company to develop the project, which will feature music from her 1994 album, Merry Christmas, as well as new songs. She explained, "It's probably going to be a movie first. I don't want to say a television movie, because it's not like a cheesy network movie, but then it's going to be made for the Broadway production. So the TV movie will set the stage for the stage."

Alicia Expands Fights Against Aids

Grammy winner Alicia Keys is reportedly heading to
Uganda next month with a camera crew. The singer wants to document her four-day trip, which will include visits to two health facilities funded by Keep A Child Alive, the organization she co-founded to address the AIDS pandemic in Africa.
Keys and representatives of the charity will visit the Masaka Healthcare Centre and Kairos Medical Centre in Namuwongo, both of which fund adult and child AIDS treatment services for families living with HIV.

She Saw It In A Dream

Shakira and Wyclef Jean's collaboration on "Hips Don't Lie" was practically meant to be. Shakira told MTV.com, "I don't want you to think I'm esoteric or metaphysical, because I'm not superstitious, but I dreamt about Wyclef one night before he and I actually met." At the time of her dream, Shakira had no idea that Wyclef had just called her manager to pitch the idea of teaming up for a song. The title, "Hips Don't Lie," comes from an inside joke Shakira had with her band members. She explained, "I would tell them, 'Listen, hips don't lie. If they're not moving, this isn't working. If they shake, we're in good shape.'" Shakira then took the title and put it into the context of the song, which she says is about "a woman dancing, her seductive powers through dance."

Paris Bennett is Still in the Running

You might have thought Paris Bennett was cut last night judging by all the tears she shed for fellow contestant 16-year-old Lisa Tucker who received the lowest number of votes from American Idol viewers this week. The show lost another black contestant as
America sent Tucker packing after making it as far as the top ten. Mandisa and hometown favorite
Paris are the remaining African-American contestants.
On a night featuring Hips Don’t Lie from Shakira and Wyclef it was time for the 10 remaining American Idol contestants to face the truth.  Fifteen minutes into the show  you could hear Paris shreak with delight as host Ryan Seacrest  announced she, Mandisa  and eventually seven others survived to compete another week. Fourteen minutes later Tucker learned her fate. Next week would-be Idols sing country selections. (by Freddie Bell)

3121 Is Number One

Veteran artist Prince scores the best album chart debut of his career as 3121 captures the Number One spot on the Billboard 200 Albums chart this week. The set, distributed by Universal Records, sold some 183,436 copies in its first week of release. 3121 is Prince's first chart-topping album since 1989's Batman soundtrack, and his first Number One studio set since Around The World In A Day climbed to the pinnacle in 1985.

Dawn’s Back in the Studio

Singer and songwriter Dawn Robinson says she's been at work on a new solo album that she hopes will be available in October this year. The En Vogue singer, who also served in the group Lucy Pearl, says she'll have a single out on April 25th. Among the producers wooed for the project are Chucky Thompson and Rich Harrison, though Robinson says she likes working with untried talents. The album will be a hip-hop meets rock mix, much like the sound of the En Vogue hit "Free Your Mind" but "edgier."

Sister In Law Says Houston is a Crack Addict

Whitney Houston's alleged drug abuse is being confirmed by her sister-in-law in a lurid tabloid story that was picked up by news organizations around the world. Bobby Brown's older sister Tina Brown, who is 42, tells The National Enquirer in an exclusive April 10th story that she "did crack with Whitney" on many occasions, but while she's been straight since last August, Houston's drug use persists. "The truth needs to come out. She won't stay off the drugs. It's every single day. It's so ugly. Everyone is so scared she is going to OD," said Brown, who hopes that airing the multiple Grammy winner's dirty laundry will force her to get help. Among the allegations made by Brown are that The Bodyguard star is now half toothless; has drug- induced hallucinations in which she sees the devil and beats herself black and blue; and spends her days "locked in her bedroom amid piles of garbage, smoking crack, using sex toys to satisfy herself and ignoring personal hygiene." Brown also furnished photos to the tabloid that she claims were taken in January at Houston's suburban
Atlanta home, showing a bathroom littered with drug paraphernalia and trash.

Brown also claims that when Cissy Houston forced her daughter to go to rehab in March 2004, Whitney smoked crack on the way to the meetings and dodged the mandatory urine tests.

In a December 2002 interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer,
Houston famously denied questions about her drug abuse by saying, "Crack is wack."

American Idol Dropout Releasing New CD

Vocalist Mario Vasquez, the only American Idol contestant to ever drop out of the final 12, is polishing up his debut album for J Records, the same label that is home to AI winners Fantasia and Ruben Studdard. Singer-songwriter Ne-Yo and rapper Baby Bash contribute to his still-untitled debut, which is due this summer. Vasquez told MTV.com that he's been in the studio with producers Soulshock & Karlin, the Underdogs, and Lester Mendez (who has worked with Shakira), as well as Ne-Yo, Scott Storch, reggaeton hitmakers the Luney Tunes, and Alicia Keys' partner Kerry "Krucial" Brothers. "It's just amazing that I've had the opportunity to work with those guys," Vazquez said. "I'm excited and blessed."

Fans Can Win a One of a Kind Honda Civic

To celebrate their Honda Civic-sponsored national tour, the Black Eyed Peas are offering fans a chance to win a totally "pimped out," one-of-a-kind Honda Civic hybrid vehicle. The customized car, which was featured in the BEP video for "Pump It," will be displayed at every stop along the hip-hop crew's tour. The exterior of the car features a red and black custom fireball design, the Black Eyed Peas logo on the rear passenger doors, and each member's autograph somewhere on the body. The interior features red leather seats, the band's monkey logo on the headrests and floor mats, and a Shure 55SH microphone as the gearshift, among many other features. The vehicle also boasts a state-of-the-art Alpine sound system.

Is Beyonce Acting Like a Diva?

Sources on the set of the film Dreamgirls are gossiping about the time and money being spent on the elaborate wigs and hairpieces worn by Beyonce for her character Deena Jones, the lead singer in a Supremes-like '60s girl group. "The shooting keeps getting delayed because something goes wrong with one of those darned wigs," a mole reportedly told MSNBC.com. "During a dance routine, Beyonce was twirling and a fake nail kept getting caught in the wig and it all ripped apart." Another incident involving props being raised via invisible fishing wires also wreaked havoc on the star's fake tresses, said the source.

Forthcoming Book About Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson has reportedly authorized the release of a new book about his life. According to FoxNews.com, My World: The Official Photobook, Vol.1 is expected to feature photographs, poems and drawings, as well as the lyrics to "You Are So Beautiful," a song Jackson wrote to fans during last year's child molestation trial. Sources say that the book could be out as early as mid-April. My World: The Official Photobook, Vol.1 is tied to the German company owned by Jackson's former associate Dieter Wiesner, who
Jackson visited in early February.

Reverand Run Releases Great Words

Reverend Run, formerly of Run-DMC, has released his inspirational book called Rev. Run's Words Of Wisdom. The book contains many of the sayings that the rapper shares with his viewing audience at the end of every episode of his popular MTV reality show Run's House. Rev Run told allhiphop.com, "More people wanted the words of wisdom because of the television show. So I said, 'I can't reach everyone,' so I put out a book. Harper Collins wanted to do a book on Rev. Run's words of wisdom, so here we are."The rapper added, "It's really what I use. What I'm doing when I'm writing these words of wisdom, is you guys are hearing me think out loud. So whatever I'm going through, that night, that morning, all around those moments and however I get though it, again, I just give it out. So yes, it's my ministry. It's me preaching to you. And you get a word. For some people this is the only church they'll ever get."

Three Six Mafia Using What They’ve Got

Memphis-based rap outfit Three 6 Mafia has been using their Oscar win to their benefit, but not in the way that you think. Group member Juicy J explained how he's used the Oscar to get into
Los Angeles nightclubs. He told MTV.com, "We was in
L.A. for two weeks and we didn't get a chance to go home. So we had to carry the Oscar everywhere we went, because they said we should get insurance for it because somebody might try to take it or rob you for it. It's gold. It weighs eight-and-a-half pounds. I couldn't get in a club, so I pulled out the Oscar and they let me right in. When I got back to
Memphis, I put the Oscar in a fireproof safe. So if you try to burn the house down, you can't burn the Oscar." As for Three 6 Mafia's friends back in
Memphis, many of them didn't realize the magnitude of what the rappers had accomplished. Juicy J said, "A lot of my friends don't even know what an Academy Award is. They thought I won a Grammy. I said, 'N—a, you crazy. This is an Oscar, one of the biggest awards you can get.'"

Production Foul-ups Stop Film Shoot

Rapper 50 Cent and actor Samuel L. Jackson are two of the stars of the upcoming independent movie Home Of The Brave, but unfortunately, production on the film has come to a halt. SOHH.com reports that a labor disagreement between the International Alliance Of Theatrical Stage Employees union and North By Northwest Productions forced crews from both parties to pack up on Sunday (March 26th). The jury is still out on when and if the producers will continue to shoot the film at its current location in
Spokane, Washington.

Paris Bennett “Worked It Out” on American Idol

Singing and dancing Paris Bennett Worked it out on American Idol last night as contestants focused on the music of the last six years. This block of music gave the contestants a wide range of contemporary selections from which to choose, however most choices were a little suspect.  Hometown superstar Paris Bennett sang Beyonce’s Work It Out. Last week
Paris looked like blues singer, Billie Holiday and Beyonce last night in a complete transformation of dress, music and energy. Of her performance Judge Randy Jackson deemed it fearless and the bomb. “You ‘worked it out’,” he said, “the best performance of the night.”
“Those weren’t kid moves,” Paula Abdul said of Bennett’s dancing suggesting the Pussycat Dolls would be calling for her to star in their show. Judge Simon Cowell characterized the audition as precocious, a little girl pretending to be Beyonce. Based on her performance you can expect Paris to continue onto the next round, provided
America actually votes. (by Freddie Bell)

It’s Called “King”

Atlanta rapper T.I. releases his fourth album, King. T.I. his goals for the album were simple — and ambitious: "Just my best work yet, best body of work ever. I mean, the response from the people and the concurrence of your belief matched with the people's opinions, y'know, like the people who say 'I feel like this is your best work yet,' that's what I'm going for." Guests on King include Common, Jamie Foxx, BG, Pharrell, P$C, and Blink-182/Transplants drummer Travis Barker, who appears on the first single, "What We Know," and in the video for the song.

 Kelly Rowland Helping the Children

Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland will kick off the 8th Wonder Of The World Concert Series on April 12th at the Taj Mahal in
Agra, India. According to MTV.com, the concerts will be held over the next five years at some of the world's most famous spots, including Beijing's Forbidden City and the Parthenon in
Athens, Greece. Proceeds will benefit children with HIV and AIDS.

 For Grown Folks Only

Singer and songwriter Kem is currently in the midst of a national tour to promote his sophomore Motown set Kem Album II. With his mix of romantic R&B, jazz, and even gospel, the
Detroit native is one of the champions of what he calls "grown folks music."
"I'm making music for a lot of people who grew up with the same stuff I did," Kem told The Los Angeles Times. "They've never gone anywhere. I think this is the time for it to come back to the forefront."

By now fans know Kem's story, which includes bouncing back from drug and alcohol dependence and a stint of homelessness. His religious faith helped him turn his life around and focus on music, and he's not afraid to inject spirituality into his music.

Jamie Foxx is Still Unpredictable

Jamie Foxx continues to fare well at radio with material from his J Records debut Unpredictable. His latest single, "DJ Play A Love Song" featuring Twista got off to a great start at Number 63, the best- debuting tune on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart for the week. The video for the new single features Eva Pigford, the winner of
America's Next Top Model Cycle 4.
Foxx says that more romance and classic R&B touches are needed in today's music, just as more romance is needed in life. Said Foxx: ["It's a lot of music out there that's not about love that's just about whatever and poppin' the bottles and it's crazy and I like that too. But every once in a while–when's the last time, fellas, you popped in your slow jams, you know what I'm saying, and popped your Ripple or your Cristal or whatever you can afford, and you really like talked to your woman? So those are the things, just getting back to music."

The Games Says It’s No Game

Prior to landing a deal with Dr. Dre's Aftermath label, the Game recorded several demos in the San Francisco Bay Area for JT The Bigga Figga's Fast Life Records. Recently, the Game hit Koch Entertainment, Koch Records, and Fast Life with a copyright infringement lawsuit alleging that the companies illegally marketed and distributed his early recordings. Fast Life Records has released several early recordings by the Game through Koch including Untold Story, Untold Story Vol. 2, Untold Story Vol. 2 Chopped & Screwed, and G.A.M.E. The Game's manager Jimmy Rosemond told allhiphop.com, "It is unfortunate that Koch ignored our request to halt distribution of Game's early demos. They are illegal masters that were obtained without the consent of the Game. We hope this will make any and all musical pirates more conscious of artists, like the Game, and their copyrights and intellectual property. Koch just released another illegal Game album (G.A.M.E.). This is a mere attempt to confuse Game's fans, as he is preparing to release his sophomore album in June with Dr. Dre."  _________________________________________________________

Director Spike Lee, whose heist film Inside Man has just topped the box office receipts in its first weekend, will reportedly direct the first episodes of a new CBS drama titled Shark. The series will star veteran actor James Woods as a former celebrity defense attorney whose conscience leads him to becoming a prosecutor, according to the LA Times. There is no word yet on when the series will debut. The co-producer of Shark series is Brian Grazer, who also produced Inside Man, which stars Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster, and Clive Owen.  George Mason Doesn’t Play By the Rules

WASHINGTON, D.C. - "No rules, just right."

The night before every postseason game, Jim Larranaga has taken his Patriots to Outback Steakhouse. Unbeknownst to coach, however, the players were taking in more than filet mignons and bloomin' onions. Jai Lewis and Lamar Butler were also internalizing the restaurant's popular slogan.George Mason's 86-84 overtime victory over
Connecticut broke all the rules. Smaller teams — each Patriots starter measured two to five inches shorter than his
Connecticut counterpart — aren't built to outrebound bigger foes. Yet the Patriots grabbed 37 rebounds to the Huskies' 34.
"People had the misconception that if you have three 6-10 kids, all of a sudden you have a good basketball team," said Jim Calhoun. "The game takes instinct."After squandering a prime opportunity to win in regulation, lower-seeded teams aren't expected to overcome higher-seeded foes in overtime. Yet despite blowing a four-point lead with 18 seconds remaining in the second half, the Patriots controlled the extra period. With the victory, George Mason became the first ever Colonial Athletic Association team to reach the Final Four. With the victory, George Mason became the first mid-major club to reach the Final Four since Penn andIndiana
State in 1979. (Massachusetts made it to the Final Four in 1996, but the Atlantic 10 is not considered a traditional mid-major conference).

Tiger Tells 60 Minutes He Stuttered as a Child

In an interview with CBS' "60 Minutes" to be televised Sunday, the world's No. 1 golfer says, "The words got lost, you know, somewhere between the brain and the mouth. And it was very difficult, but I fought through it. I went to a school to try and get over that, and I just would work my tail off." Woods had some extra help, too.  "I would talk to my dog and he would sit there and listen, and he'd fall asleep," Woods says. "I finally learned how to do that, without stuttering all over myself." Woods credits his parents with helping him become a top athlete. His father, Earl, fought in
Vietnam and has been battling cancer the last two years. Woods missed the final practice round at The Players Championship in Florida on Wednesday to check on him in
California.
His mother, Kutilda, was a strong influence as well. "Mom was the one I was always afraid of," Wood says. "Yeah, you have no idea how competitive my mom is. She would watch me compete living every moment, live I mean die on every shot."

Patti Falls Out

Patti LaBelle would be the first to tell you she had an off night during her appearance at last weekend's Riviera Beach Jazz and Blues Festival in
Florida. The Miami Herald reported that LaBelle took the stage just after midnight on Sunday morning (March 26th), and spent the first ten minutes of her show having stage hands help bundle her up "in socks, gloves and a wrap." LaBelle explained to the crowd that she's almost 61 years old and suffering from both diabetes and a heart murmur. Shortly after that, LaBelle broke down sobbing and told the crowd that, "I've never been this embarrassed in my life. This sucks. It's the worst show I've ever done in my life."

T.I. Says He’s a Collaborator

Atlanta rapper T.I. is climbing the charts with "What You Know," the first single from his new album, King, which is also included in the film ATL. T.I. told me that the song did not go through an arduous creative process: "Me and DJ Toomp just went in the studio and we just created the song. Simple as that. I mean, we got a different kind of chemistry. We worked together so much in the past — as a matter of fact, he brought me in the game."

“Suge” Knight is Still Fightin’ the Power

Hip hop mogul
Marion "Suge" Knight might no longer control his financial assets if he continues to refuse to cooperate with Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ronald Sohigian. Allhiphop.com reports that on Thursday (March 23rd), the judge said he would appoint a court officer to manage the Death Row cofounder's finances unless Knight shows up to a hearing next month. Judge Sohigian made the move after Knight failed to recognize a March 2005 ruling that ordered him to pay plaintiff Lydia Harris $107 million, as the judge ruled that Harris was entitled to half of the mogul's Death Row Records empire. Knight never responded to court documents seeking financial information and failed to answer the complaint so the judge ruled against him. If a court officer is appointed to oversee Knight's finances, Death Row Records will be placed in receivership, which is a special form of bankruptcy where a company can avoid liquidation through a court-appointed trustee.

Michael Says He Was Ready to Let Neverland Go

That's according to his sister Latoya Jackson, who told Access Hollywood, "I have to tell you that when all of this was over he said he would leave and never come back and he didn't care or want Neverland again. So, I guess you guys are just learning about it, but he never really wanted a part of that ever again." She added, "He felt that his privacy was invaded, so it's time to leave and that's what he did."Although
Jackson's former mansion is out of operation, his spokesperson recently suggested that despite reports, it's not closed for good.

More Valuable than Money

As you know, your income depends on other people. You give them something valuable and they give you money. So even if you think you have nothing to exchange, you have one valuable item that people want from you.

“Approval and validation* are often far more valuable than material* rewards and are usually worked for far harder than mere pay.”
(*validation: confirm something or someone is true, genuine) (*material: physical)

In a Gallup Organization poll of 2,000 workers, 69% said praise and recognition from their bosses is more motivating than money. Four out of five workers said recognition or praise motivates them to do a better job.

Studies by the US Army prove that soldiers improve their performance 90% of the time when praised and 30% of the time when criticized. But officers in the US Army still prefer to criticize and rarely praise anyone.

Thanking employees is an effective management technique. Every manager and executive must know how to show appreciation to deserving staff members. Good acknowledgments encourage better behavior and increased production. Validating good workers can even help a business recover.

For example, The owner of a small business had a heart attack and could not work for a few weeks. He recovered and came back to work and found he had no money to pay his employees. Instead of asking the employees to leave or borrowing money to cover payroll, the owner used praise and acknowledgment as “pay.”

Every employee stayed on board without financial pay for nearly two months. The morale of the group was tremendous. The operation became profitable and the team was rewarded with more money than they would have normally received from a similar job.

You can use this principle in other ways. For example, workers can boost their success by properly thanking their bosses and coworkers. If your leader and teammates are succeeding, your chances to succeed improve.

Some people have the mistaken idea that it is wrong or weak to praise people. “If I thank him or approve his good work, he’ll think I’m inferior.” “I can’t validate her good work because she’s already making more money than me.” “Even though Joe is my friend, he’s also my competition for the raise so I’m not telling anyone how smart he is.”

Of course, this idea is wrong. For example, successful sports teammates are constantly approving and encouraging each other with loud yells and slaps. Without this encouragement, the team and each individual would fail.

Praise also gets a bad name when you are not sincere. Sarcastic praise or lying about your admiration can actually hurt your relationships. Validating and appreciating people only helps you if you are honest.

Seven Benefits of Giving Honest Praise

1. You give people a little joy in their day.

2. People follow your example and start to notice the good in others.

3. You can use praise to turn an enemy into a friend.

4. You improve a child’s behavior when you use praise as a reward for good behavior.

5. People give you priority. For example, waiters and waitresses prefer to serve customers who show their appreciation of their hard work. If you criticize a food server, you may not get a very good meal.

6. As any successful fundraiser can tell you, no one will support your cause without some praise.

7. If you cannot pay money to people, you can always thank them which is all some people really want.

Eight Ways to Approve, Validate, Admire, Praise and Thank Others

1. Verbally and directly thank the person. Stop the person, look them in the eye, get their full attention. “Pat, thanks for straightening out those files.”

2. Explain why you appreciate what the person did. Be specific. “I liked how you used the colored tabs to make it easier for us to find files in the future.” “I’m amazed how you got Little Bill to calm down and clean up his room.” “Ever since you upgraded my computer, I get my work done much faster!”

3. Expand your compliment. “The way you organize everything really makes it nice to work around you.” “Ever since you came home, everyone in the family gets along better.” “If you help me with my computer in the future, I’ll get a raise!”

4. Give indirect praise. For example, compliment one person about another person. “Bob sure did a good job fixing my car!” “You know, Mary is one of the best friends I’ve ever had.” “I think our boss is a fantastic manager.”

5. Defend the person. “You said Chris is too much of a perfectionist, but no one can organize things like she does.” “If one of us was the boss, we’d have to be tough too.” “Maybe you should say that to his face and not behind his back.”

6. Ask for the person’s help, opinions or ideas. As a boss, asking for an employee’s advice shows that you value the person’s intelligence. “Could you give me your ideas about the parking problem?” “Do you think we should hire another assistant?”

As an employee, if you ask a coworker for help, it not only shows you have a good opinion of the coworker, it encourages him or her to be on your side. “Can I ask you for some advice?”

7. Compliment their achievement. Instead of praising the person, you praise their work. Become happy, even excited, about the person’s accomplishment. “This dinner is really fantastic!” “That fish tank has never looked cleaner!” “Mrs. Jones was very happy after you met with her.”

8. Physical contact. Hand shakes, shoulder pats and even hugs can communicate your appreciation quickly and effectively.

Morning Show Update Bonus for Friday March 23rd

Prince Performing on Saturday Night Live This Weekend

Veteran performer Prince will appear on Saturday Night Live tomorrow night (March 25th) to play tunes from his brand-new album 3121, including the new single “Te Amo Corazon.” The album was released on Tuesday, March 21st, in a one-off deal with Universal.

The show, which will be hosted by Steve Martin, will air at 11:29 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

R. Kelly’s Brother Making Serious Allegations

R. Kelly’s younger brother Carey Kelly released his tell- all DVD on Tuesday (March 21st), and it includes allegations that R. Kelly is bisexual, that the singer tried to molest their other brother’s daughter, and that he molested their 12-year-old second cousin. Carey also alleges that his brother is abusive to his wife. Carey Kelly told MTV.com, “Why are people feeling sorry for (R.)? Saying that the girl’s lying and that’s why he caught the case? He caught the case because that’s God’s way of waking him up. What you put out there comes back. It’s called karma. But I’m not trying to say anything that’s going to put him behind bars. I just wish that people that supposedly love him really reach out to him and say, ‘You need help, man.’ He’s sick and he needs help.”

Carey Kelly was referring to his brother’s pending child pornography case for allegedly videotaping a sexual encounter with an underage girl. The singer is due back in court on April 7th.

According to Carey Kelly, the case is one of the reasons why the brothers aren’t getting along, as Carey said he was taken aback when R. Kelly’s legal team attempted to say that it was Carey in the video and not R. Kelly.

According to Carey, his brother offered him $50,000, a record deal, and a house to perjure himself in court. Carey said, “I got a call about a year-and-a-half ago. My brother wanted me to do some s–t pertaining to this case that would leave me behind bars with a record deal. It doesn’t make sense, so I turned it down… Since I couldn’t lie for him in a court of law, we’re back to beefing again, and we ain’t brothers no more.”

A spokesperson for R. Kelly said, “This is not the first time Carey has made ridiculous accusations against his brother. We’re not going to dignify them with a comment.”

Carey Kelly also has another beef with his brother. He allegedly was never compensated for his contributions to his brother’s 1993 album 12 Play.

According to sources close to R. Kelly, he doesn’t want to go after his brother publicly and believes that Carey is a “troubled guy with lots of problems who’s mouthing off.”

Carey Kelly has been homeless in the past and he recently completed a jail stint for a theft conviction.

Tiger’s Back on the Course

As Love navigated his way around the Stadium Course without a bogey in the morning, attention shifted to the parking lot when Tiger Woods showed up after a cross-country trip to California to visit his 74-year-old father, Earl Woods, who is battling cancer. Woods left Tuesday night not knowing if he would come back.”He’s fighting as hard as he can,” Woods said. “It was good to see. At least he’s trying to hang in there, which is a very positive sign.”

Woods returned about 12 hours before his tee time, and his play was sporadic - five birdies, five bogeys and a 72 that left him seven shots behind.

Woods said he wasn’t tired from his coast-to-coast trip in his private jet, and while he was thinking of his father, he had plenty of time to prepare for each shot. He just didn’t hit them all very well.

“Unfortunately, my mechanics weren’t very good,” Woods said.

He played with Darren Clarke, whose wife, Heather, is dying from cancer that has spread throughout her body. Woods said they spoke about their situations throughout the round.

“It’s just one of those things you deal with,” Woods said. “Everyone has to deal with that at some point in their life, and unfortunately, right now it’s our time.”

Have a great weekend. To post your comments click on comments and write in the box that appears below.

Welcome to the Update

Paris Survives Yet Another Week

In a week featuring help from Singer-Songwriter Barry Manilow, The Twin Cities favorite daughter, Paris Bennett continues. Judges Jackson, Abdul and Cowell had only adulation for the diminutive star in a show featuring music from the fifties era. Heart-throb “Chicken Little” was cut from the group Wednesday. I’m wondering, however, why the singer who looks like Mr. Thomnus from “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe,” is still hanging around. I’ll keep you updated from here on regarding Paris’ rising star.

C. Willi Myles on Stage

Comedian C. Willi Myles, my former Morning Show buddy, is appearing on stage April 1st in Sartell, Minnesota for an April Fools Day Special in an 8pm show. No doubt Willi has something up his sleeve for everyone considering the day!  Billed as America’s Everyday Comedian, Willi will have you laughing, crying and begging for more. Don’t miss this show!

Snoop Releases Pet Products

Rapper and actor Snoop Dogg has partnered with Jakks Pacific to launch his own line of pet products. SOHH.com reports that the line will include leashes, beds, treats, cover toys, and other dog accessories. The rapper said, “Snoop Dogg’s love goes beyond people — it is for living creatures throughout the universe. How can I be Snoop Dogg and not show my love for pets?”Jakks Pacific’s senior vice president of licensing and media, Jennifer Richmond, added, “We think Snoop Dogg will be a perfect complement to our new pet line, and our team is really excited to develop and market what we expect will be an urban and edgy line. Initially, we’ll look to sell the Snoop Dogg line into mass retailers and pet superstores. However, we hope to reach even wider distribution to music, novelty, and other specialty outlets with a strong, irreverent line.”

P Diddy Says He’s Not Taking It!

Sean “Diddy” Combs and his Bad Boy Entertainment label plan to appeal a ruling made by U.S. District Judge Todd Campbell last week which banned the sale of the late Notorious B.I.G.’s 1994 debut, Ready To Die, because the album’s title track featured an unauthorized sample of the Ohio Players track “Singing In The Morning.” Combs’s legal team told allhiphop.com, “The verdict was erroneous and against the great weight of the evidence. We are very confident that it will be reversed on appeal.” Judge Campbell awarded the plaintiffs in the case, Bridgeport Music and Westbound Records, $4.2 million in punitive damages. The two companies own the rights to the Ohio Players catalogue. Essence Line up AnnouncedThe original New Edition, hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, and vocalists Jaheim and Chris Brown have been added to the main stage line-up for this year’s Essence Music Festival, set for July 1st through July 3rd at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. New Edition will appear with Bobby Brown in a rare reunion performance. And Combs will headline a Diddy & Friends show featuring performances by special guests. Comedian Steve Harvey will host the Sunday night show. Macy Calls in The “A” Team For Help

Macy Gray has solicited some help from Outkast, Justin Timberlake and Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas for her new album, called Big, due out later this year. According to MTV.com, R&B singer Natalie Cole also guest stars on the set. Gray is currently mixing the CD, which she says is the best one she’s ever recorded. Gray said fans can expect a mixture of new and old sounds, adding, “It’s everything: hip-hop, R&B, rock and roll, even old folk music. We managed to come up with some new beats, so it’s real hot.”

Family Connections Score a Hit

Gospel sisters Mary Mary logged an urban adult radio hit recently with “Heaven,” the first single from their third album, titled Mary Mary. Produced by Warryn Campbell, the tune featured the music of the 1971 R&B chart-topper “Want Ads” by the Honey Cone. The duo’s Erica and Tina Campbell admit that they weren’t familiar with the original tune, but add that there is a family connection. CELEBRITY BIRTHDAYS

Welcome to the Update, by Freddie Bell

Culpepper Says He Was Just Rolling Dice
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Former Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper testified Wednesday that he spent his entire time shooting dice during a boat party last fall and rejected offers from lingerie-clad dancers.
Culpepper, one of four players charged with misdemeanor lewd conduct, said he and friends gathered in a circle, betting $20 a throw playing craps. “Nobody who was shooting dice wanted to get a dance,” Culpepper said. He said he was a designated driver for the evening. Culpepper, who was traded last week to the Miami Dolphins, and former teammate Moe Williams were in Hennepin County District Court seeking to have the charges dismissed. Two other Vikings, cornerback Fred Smoot and tackle Bryant McKinnie, weren’t part of Wednesday’s hearing. The October cruise on suburban Lake Minnetonka was swiftly dubbed “Love Boat” after employees of a charter boat company came forward with accusations of lewd behavior, and the Vikings became a target of national ridicule. Some of Williams’ testimony reinforced crew members’ accusations. He described a woman pouring drinks at a bar with her head down, shielding her eyes to avoid seeing naked dancers around her. Williams said he suggested to the woman that the lights be turned down so she didn’t have to see what was going on. Williams testified that he got a lap dance, but said he was holding a drink in one hand, a bag of his belongings in the other. He said he never touched the woman’s breast, as prosecutors say. Culpepper’s attorney, Earl Gray, argued that even if the two players did get lap dances, it wasn’t a crime because such dances happen regularly in Minneapolis. Culpepper and Williams also contend that race played a factor in the decision to charge them. Both players are black. They say sheriff’s investigators have evidence that a boat captain and another man - both white - engaged in indecent conduct but were not charged. Smoot and McKinnie, also black, did not ask for dismissal on those grounds. Prosecutor Steven Tallen has denied that race played a role. He has accused defense lawyers of using race to cloud the real issues. Testimony on that question was expected later Wednesday. Culpepper and Williams are accused of touching a naked woman during lap dances; McKinnie and Smoot are accused of other alleged lewd acts. They’ve all pleaded not guilty. Trials for the four are set for April and May.

    The Artist Is Still Rockin’

Prince celebrated the March 21st release of his new album 3121 with a surprise midnight performance late Monday at the Tower Records Sunset store in Hollywood. Distributor Universal Records had originally planned a midnight sale and a Prince karaoke contest for fans at the store, but the prolific artist decided he wanted to perform and trucked in his own audio equipment and lights from his Hollywood Hills home. To the delight of fans, Prince performed old favorites “Party Man,” “It’s All Right,” Aretha Franklin’s “Rock Steady,” Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music” featuring a vocal by a fan, and the concert piece “Beautiful Strange.” Also on the 45- minute set was the single “Te Amo Corazon,” as well as new tracks “Red Head Stepchild” with vocalist Tamar, new tune “Fury,” and the classics and “Purple Rain” and “Let’s Go Crazy.”

    South Park Saga Continues

An insider report said that Isaac Hayes’ recent statements regarding his departure from the animated series South Park, may not have been issued by him. Foxnews.com claims that the unnamed source said that Hayes, who suffered a stroke last January, is “in no position to have quit anything.” They went on to reveal that although Hayes’ stroke was labeled “mild,” his speech and memory may have been affected. Last week Hayes — who had provided the voice of the character Chef since 1997 — issued a statement asking to be released from his contract from the Comedy Central animated series, after the show took a knock at longtime Scientologist Tom Cruise in an episode called, “Trapped In A Closet.” Hayes’ statement said in part that, “… there is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins.”

    Alicia’s Role Extends Beyond Music

Multiple Grammy winner Alicia Keys is known for her music, but she also serves as the Global Ambassador for Keep A Child Alive (KCA), a non-profit organization that asks the public for a dollar a day to buy AIDS drugs for children and families in Africa. On Monday, she expressed her thanks to the MAC AIDS Foundation, a division of the MAC cosmetics company that committed $170,000 to KCA through its Kids Helping Kids campaign. Kids Helping Kids is an annual holiday card program featuring artwork designed by children aged five to 15 from local public schools in Brooklyn, New York. The cards were available at MAC stores and on-line. Many celebrities used the cards for their personal holiday greetings, with all of the proceeds going to pediatric AIDS organizations.
