ROBIN GIVENS SAYS TYSON RAPED HER
robin-given.jpgmike-tyson.jpg

In the pages of her new autobiography “Grace Will Lead Me Home,” Robin Givens details how she was raped by her then-husband, boxer Mike Tyson, during a 1988 trip to Russia. In an excerpt provided by the New York Daily News, the actress writes, she was awoken by a drunken Tyson who “climbed on top of me . . . and grabbed me by my throat.” Givens said she attempted to reach for a phone and yelled for him to stop, but he “pinned my hands above my head . . . He pulled my pajama pants down . . . I begged him to stop as he undid his pants and began to shove himself in me.” According to Givens, who was married to the former heavyweight champion from 1988 to 1989, Tyson then began tearing up the hotel and ended up hanging by one arm from a railing 18 stories above the lobby. All of this, Givens writes, took place 48 hours before the couple’s infamous interview with Barbara Walters, when the “Head of the Class” star revealed that Tyson was physically abusive and bi-polar. In other Mike Tyson news, the former boxer was apparently bitten by the Bollywood bug after filming a music video in Las Vegas for the new Indian comedy “Fool n Final,” about a diamond heist. The Times of India reported Monday that Iron Mike now wants to star in an actual Bollywood film. He said in an interview that Firoz Nadiadwala, producer of “Fool n Final,” had approached him with a script. “Firoz has discussed a movie with me,” the newspaper quoted Tyson as saying. “We seriously intend to work toward it,” he said, without disclosing any details.

SHEMAR MOORE ARRESTED FOR DUI
shemar-moore.jpg

The headline over at celebrity Web site TMZ read “Shemar Moore DUI — The Young & Arrested.” E! Online wrote: “Shemar Moore’s Criminal Bind.” The star of CBS’ “Criminal Minds,” who first became famous as Malcolm on “The Young and the Restless,” was arrested early Friday morning in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence. According to TMZ, the actor was pulled over for speeding down Santa Monica Blvd. at around 1:30 a.m. During the traffic stop, police said Moore “displayed signs of alcohol impairment and a DUI investigation was conducted.” He must’ve failed a field sobriety test because he was arrested and taken to the police station, where he underwent a breathalyzer test and was eventually booked. The Bay area native was released a few hours later on $5000 bail. Speaking of former “Young and the Restless” stars, Victoria Rowell is basking in the success of her new memoir, “The Women Who Raised Me.” According to Roger Friedman of Fox411, the book about her experience in the foster-care system “reads like non-fiction Terry McMillan — and it’s already got a cult following on Amazon.com among customer reviewers.”

WOMAN WANTS JORDIN SPARKS TO LOOSE WEIGHT
jordinsparks_150.jpg

A woman who has been publicly criticizing “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks over her weight has reportedly received death threats because of her remarks. MeMe Roth, of the National Action Against Obesity group, says fans of the singer are “calling for my death” and sending her vicious hate e-mail ever since she appeared on a TV show and spoke out against Sparks’ weight. Roth tells MSNBC.com’s The Scoop that she’s only looking out for Sparks’ long term health when she refers to the 17-year-old as “obese.” When I look at Jordin I see diabetes, I see heart disease, I see high cholesterol. That’s what’s so sad about this - she is not the vision of health - she is the vision of unhealth,” Roth said. Sparks, whose father is former NFL star Phillipi Sparks, has said publicly that she embraces her “extra curves” and is against society’s obsession with being thin. Roth, however, believes those kinds of attitudes toward excess weight can lead to catastrophic health problems down the line. “Her extra weight is a reflection of today’s society and a culture where many of our children have compromised health due to unhealthful food choices and inactivity,” said Roth. “We have to stop with the ‘baby fat,’ ‘curvy,’ ‘goddess’ euphemisms and own this child’s health crisis.”

TYLER PERRY PLUGGING NEW SHOW
tyler-perry.jpg

Tyler Perry sent out another e-mail to his fan base, this time urging everyone to watch the series premiere of his new sitcom “House of Payne” tonight at 8/9 p.m. on TBS. He writes:

Hi Everybody!

Okay, it’s getting close to that time. On Wednesday–this Wednesday, June 6th, HOUSE OF PAYNE airs nationwide on TBS. This is a dream come true for me. I tell you. Many of you know this story, but for those of you who don’t, I want to share it with you. About three years ago I had a deal with a major studio to do a sitcom. They wanted the show and offered me a lot of money to do it. They said they loved the idea but, as they often do, they wanted me to change everything about it. They didn’t want me to use the people that I had chosen and they didn’t want me to have any characters make references to faith or Jesus. Well, you know that ain’t me. So I walked away. Now here’s where all of you came in. I went to Atlanta and put up the money to do the show myself. The only reason I was able to do this is because you all have invested in me over the years. We tested the show in ten markets and you all watched sending the ratings through the roof! So much so that TBS came along and offered a 100-episode deal. This has never been done before. I said all of that to say this–When you know something goes against what you feel; when your spirit is churning and restless; don’t be afraid to walk away, no matter how much is at stake. God will give the increase. And He did. If you saw the first ten test episodes last year, then forget everything that you saw. The show is all new! New set, new stories, a few new characters and a lot of drama mixed in. This is nothing like any sitcom that you have seen in recent years. I thought, “If real people go through real things, then why can’t we do it on this show?” So just know that there is also a lot of drama mixed up in this comedy, along with a lot of life lessons. It’s such a great show, with a cast full of underdogs that have been trying to get their break for years. So just know that you have the power to help all of them to realize a dream. So please watch it, if you will. Two shows will air every Wednesday night, but this Wednesday night Madea is on the first show and Brown is on the second. God bless you and thank you for helping me to help these very talented and deserving people get their big break. Please let me know that you plan on watching this Wednesday by leaving me a quick message on the message board at http://www.tylerperry.com/messageboard.

Be Blessed,

TYLER
