John Legend is among a number of contemporary pop artists including songs that refer to the current Iraq war on their albums. But while protest songs of the ’60s and ’70s were very specific and in your face, the current spate of war references are much more subtle and seldom become singles, according to a story in the Sacramento Bee. Legend’s tune “Coming Home,” about an American soldier in Iraq, closes out his current set Once Again.
