Sherri Shepherd To Join ‘The View’

Actress Sherri Shepherd will be introduced next week as a new cast member on “The View,” giving the daytime chat show its first full cast since before Rosie O’Donnell came and went. The show’s creator, Barbara Walters, said Wednesday that she would reveal the new cast member on Monday. That will be Shepherd, said a person close to the show who spoke on condition of anonymity. Shepherd is no stranger to “The View.” She was a guest host more than a dozen times, many of them this summer as she tried out for a cast slot left empty since Star Jones Reynolds left last summer. She appears in the upcoming film “Who’s Your Caddy.” Her lengthy resume includes roles on “Pauly Shore Is Dead” and “The Jamie Foxx Show.” She even played God once on the CBS show “Joan of Arcadia,” although it’s doubtful her new colleagues will give her the same voice of authority.

The marriage of Prophetess Juanita Bynum and Bishop Weeks is over. Bynum told an Atlanta’s Fox 5 that last month’s alleged attack wasn’t the first time the couple has had problems. Bynum said she loves her husband but she is finished with what she called an abusive marriage. She confessed she thought the routine heated arguments in their marriage were normal initially. She said she gave her attorney the go-ahead for divorce proceedings last week. Bishop Weeks is accused of beating Bynum in an Atlanta hotel parking lot on August 21. Bynum told the station that this wasn’t the first time they had a physical altercation but it had never been to this degree – only pushing and shoving. She said he had never physically drawn a fist back and hit her. Bynum said she will assist prosecutors with the aggravated assault case but she could not pass judgment on whether Weeks should go to jail. She believes he still has redeeming qualities. She said she doesn’t believe her love for her husband will ever die and she thinks she could marry him twice — but this one is over. She said he’s a brilliant man and she believes God will get that purpose out of his life. Bynum said maybe he wasn’t meant to be with her and she wishes him the best.

Yes, I am three months pregnant,” Halle Berry wrote in an e-mail to TV show “Access Hollywood” Tuesday, confirming reports of her condition that broke earlier in the day. The Oscar-winning actress and her model boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, 31, are expecting their first child sometime in March, and the 41-year-old film star said she couldn’t be happier. “Gabriel and I are beyond excited, and I’ve waited a long time for this moment in life,” she said. “Now the next … months will be the longest of my life!” According to, Berry’s pregnancy caused Lionsgate to postpone production on her next film “Tulia,” which was to begin shooting in October with co-star Billy Bob Thornton.

Newlywed Usher Raymond is putting his home in the Country Club of the South up for sale at a price of $1.9 million, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The five-bedroom, four bath house “has a lot of musical history,” said listing agent Lisa Robinson, noting it was owned by Def Jam CEO Antonio “L.A.” Reid before Ursh purchased it from him. The house, once featured on MTV’s “Cribs,” is described in AJC as an “understated gray stucco that comes with a hair salon, exercise room, swimming pool, guest house and recording studio.” Robinson said the home would be a great spot for any executive looking for high-end living, but it should appeal particularly to performers. “We’re thinking it would be an industry person who’s likely to be interested in this house,” Robinson said. No word yet on where Usher and his bride, Tameka, will relocate with their expected baby. Usher discussed the pregnancy and wedding drama recently during a surprise visit to this week’s season premiere of the “Ellen Degeneres Show.” Usher said Tameka is 6 and ½ months along, and he’s hoping the baby will be a boy.

Wanda Sykes has been added to the lineup of this year’s Comedy Festival in Las Vegas, organized by HBO and AEG Live and scheduled to take place Nov. 14-17. The comedian-actress joins previously announced stars Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and Ellen DeGeneres for the event. In a conference call Tuesday, Rock said he’s busy creating a fresh standup show for Vegas, which he called “a work in progress.” Seinfeld said he feels the standup scene overall is “pretty good.”

He won’t get to play in regular-season games, but John David Washington, the son of Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington, is back with the St. Louis Rams as a member of the team’s practice squad. As previously reported, J.D. was one of 11 players cut by the Rams last week to make its mandatory limit of 53 players by Sept. 1. The all-time rushing leader at Morehouse College arrived at the Rams’ training camp in 2006. He was assigned to the practice squad before being allocated to the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa this spring. During the Rams preseason this year, he gained just three yards on his five preseason carries. Players on the practice squad do not play in regular-season games, but they participate in all practices and team meetings. They typically earn a few thousand dollars per week.

Bo Diddley was released from a hospital near his north central Florida hometown of Archer last weekend and is currently at home recovering after suffering a heart attack. “With his health greatly improved, Diddley is happy to be home with his family and away from the hospital food,” Clary said. The Rock and roll Hall of Famer had complained of dizziness and nausea during a routine checkup last Aug. 24. Doctors checked him into North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, where he underwent surgery to install a stent to improve blood flow.
