Two days after she had announced she was pregnant, Halle Berry was chased by paparazzi and smashed her car into a wall.

She spoke to Tavis Smiley in an exclusive interview to be broadcast on PBS Friday night (tonight, Oct. 19). “This is something I want to say on your show because I know you and nobody else wants to tell the story,” Halle said. Obviously she was concerned about her unborn child. “I thought, ‘Oh my God, I hope this jolt and this bang hasn’t done anything to me internally.’ That’s immediately what I thought. When I got out of my car, of course, they had scattered. Everybody left. Those people don’t have license plates on their cars… There’s nothing there for you to get and write down and even report. “So, there I was stuck with this crashed up car wondering if this somehow impacted my pregnancy and feeling totally helpless and violated and I had nothing—no recourse against anyone.” To add insult to injury, Berry told Tavis that the paparazzi photographed the undamaged viewpoint of her car being towed from her house and reported that it was being impounded for being parked illegally. “These are the stories you don’t hear about and that’s the frightening part of it for me,” she told Smiley. “Tavis’ airs late-night on PBS. Following the death of her husband, a recent widow — played by Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry — invites her husband’s troubled best friend — Benicio Del Toro — to live with her and her two children. As he gradually turns his life around, he helps the family cope and confront their loss.

Halle Berry sets up the story of Things We Lost In The Fire: “The movie starts off and Audrey is living with the love of her life, her husband. They have two beautiful little children and, you know, they’re in a marriage of 11 years and sort of going about the business of married life. Not a perfect marriage but a wonderful life, no marriage is perfect. And all of a sudden one day, he goes out to get ice cream and never comes back.” See the trailer here in Bellshots!

Former Death Row Records bodyguard Kevin Hackie made a startling admission during a Q&A following a screening of the new movie, Tupac: Assassination – Conspiracy or Revenge? Hackie, who worked as security for Death Row and Tupac Shakur from 1992 to 1996, admitted during the panel discussion in Los Angeles on Tuesday (October 16th) that he was actually an undercover FBI agent and not an informant as had been previously reported.
Hackie made the comment in response to a comment by a Los Angeles Police Department officer who defended the LAPD’s investigation of Shakur’s murder. While the rapper was shot in Las Vegas after a Mike Tyson fight, many believe the murder was actually set in motion in Los Angeles.

Shakur was shot on September 6th, 1996 in a drive-by shooting and he died seven days later on September 13th.

According to Hackie, arrests will be made for Shakur’s murder as well as for that of the Notorious B.I.G.,who was shot and killed in Los Angeles in March of 1997.

During various court proceedings, Hackie has testified that he had “personal knowledge” about B.I.G.’s murder and that people within Death Row offered $25,000 dollars to a law enforcement officer to carry out the slaying.

Hackie has also testified that former officer David Mack and several other LAPD officers worked for Death Row Records. According to Hackie, Shakur was murdered because Marion “Suge” Knight allegedly owed him millions in unpaid royalties.

Hackie has denied some of the statements attributed to him. He points a finger at the legal team of the Notorious B.I.G.’s family because they’re currently involved in a wrongful death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Police Department. Hackie said, “My statements were taken out of context. Some things in there I never even said. They added them in.”

Tupac: Assassination – Conspiracy or Revenge? will be available on DVD on October 23rd

Kanye West, Akon and of the Black Eyed Peas will lend their vocals to Michael Jackson for the singer’s 25th anniversary edition of his best-selling album, Thriller. Peter Lopez, the former King of Pop’s music attorney, told Fox News that the younger stars are remixing original Thriller tracks “Billie Jean,” “The Girl Is Mine,” “Wanna Be Starting Something” and “Pretty Young Thing” for the CD package. Jackson is currently being sued by the Prince of Bahrain for breach of contract and on Monday (October 15th), a judge ordered him to ante up $175,000 in unpaid lawyer’s fees stemming from his own law firm’s 2006 lawsuit.

Singer and actress Beyonce is teaming up with her local church organization in Houston to help the hungry worldwide. The Grammy winner announced that she has teamed with her friend Pastor Rudy Rasmus along with the Global FoodBanking Network and Aidmatrix to launch an international virtual food drive initiative. “I want to encourage people to get involved in the fight against world hunger, in Pastor Rudy’s ongoing mission to help the least among us, and in the work of The Global FoodBanking Network,” said Beyonce in her announcement. “Any help — by donating even a small amount — can make an enormous difference.” Those who wish to participate in the virtual food drive can do so through her website, Fans can select from a shopping list that is appropriate for each country. Mariah Carey’s new album has been delayed. The follow-up to her Grammy-winning The Emancipation of Mimi was originally due out December 4th, but is reporting that the release date has been pushed back until February. Jermaine Dupri and Randy Jackson have been working with Carey. E! reports that Carey was spotted with Vanessa Williams’ ex, former basketball player Rick Fox, this week at a Hollywood night spot. A source said, “They sat on top of the banquettes in a corner booth. Then the deejay played Mariah’s ‘Fantasy,’ and the two ‘sat danced’ at the table.” Reps deny that they’re dating.

Prince is being sued by a man who loaned the singer tech equipment that was never returned. Ian Lewis filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (October 16th) alleging that Prince took 12 AVID hard drives from him without paying for them, as well as returning a $25,000 computer in “a broken and un-fixable condition.” Lewis is seeking damages to be determined at trial and damages of $1 million.

As critics and bloggers take shots at Joel Osteen and his new book this week, Richard Young, who wrote “The Rise of Lakewood Church and Joel Osteen,” came to his defense on Wednesday. “Critics say Osteen lacks biblical references in his books and claim that he preaches prosperity gospel,” said Young. “However, I found nearly 130 scriptural references in ‘Become a Better You,’ Osteen’s newest book.”

Geneticist James Watson, who shared in the 1962 Nobel Prize in medicine for his work with the team that discovered the structure of DNA, has caused outrage by saying that blacks aren’t as smart as whites. A British museum canceled Friday’s (October 19th) lecture by the 79-year-old American researcher for remarks made to the The Sunday Times ahead of his arrival in England Wednesday (October 17th) to publicize his new book, Avoid Boring People: Lessons from a Life in Science.

Watson told the Times that he’s pessimistic about the future of Africa because, quote, “all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours — whereas all the testing says not really.”

He also said that although there is a natural desire for all human beings to be equal, quote, “people who have to deal with black employees find this is not true.”

This view appears in Watson’s new book as well, in which he writes, “Our wanting to reserve equal powers of reason as some universal heritage of humanity will not be enough to make it so.”

British newspaper The Independent reported that Watson has sparked controversy before, saying in 1997 that a woman should have the right to have an abortion if tests could determine her child would be gay, and suggesting a link between skin color and sex drive, theorizing that black people have higher libidos.

The British government’s skills minister, David Lammy, who is black, told CNN, “It is a shame that a man with a record of scientific distinction should see his work overshadowed by his own irrational prejudices.”
