Multi-platinum star Mariah Carey is denying that she made disparaging comments about fellow New York pop vocalist Jennifer Lopez. She had reportedly said that she would rather “be on stage with a pig” than perform a duet with Jenny From The Block.

Carey told People magazine, “This is just some Internet gossip and it’s pathetic that people actually entertain the thought that this could be real. This is another sad example of two strong women being pitted against each other.”

The “We Belong Together” songbird is finishing up her new CD, the follow-up to her 2005 smash, The Emancipation of Mimi. The set is due this spring. Carey will also be seen in the film Tennessee, slated for release this summer.

Lopez had a dismal sales showing for her 2007 CD, Brave. She is expecting a baby with husband, Latin music and film star Marc Anthony. Unconfirmed reports have the singer pregnant with twins.

Singer Ruben Studdard will join fellow American Idol finalist Frenchie in a road tour of the Fats Waller musical Ain’t Misbehavin’. The show — which features such hits as “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Your Feets Too Big,” and “Honeysuckle Rose” — will roll through Boston; Los Angeles; Birmingham; Salt Lake City; Erie, Pennsylvania, and other cities. Further casting will be announced at a later date.

Oscar winner Halle Berry is lending her name to a celebrity golf tournament to raise money for families victimized by domestic violence. The Halle Berry Celebrity Golf Classic will take place April 28th in Los Angeles to benefit the Jenesse Center. “April 28, 2008 will be a day of great fun as we raise much needed funds to help families victimized by domestic violence. Working together we can stop the violence. I am looking forward to golfing with you. Let’s have a great time,” stated Berry, who recently received an NAACP Image Award nomination for her role in Things We Lost In The Fire.

American Idol judge and former reality show star Paula Abdul reportedly suffered one of her infamous “meltdowns” at Los Angeles International airport over the holidays. A witness told that Abdul, “had an insane nervous breakdown that lasted 10 minutes. One minute she was hyperventilating and on the verge of passing out; the next she was yelling into her cell phone in this deep, rage-filled Poltergeist voice.” American Idol begins its seventh season next Tuesday, January 15th
