DON’T WAIT, REGISTER TO VOTE NOW

Anyone who is a US citizen and will be 18 on or below the election is
eligible to vote. Before you can vote, however, you have to be registered
and the deadline is coming up fast. That deadline varies by state, but is
Oct 15 for MN. MN also allows people to register on Election Day.
However, because of the anticipated heavy turnout and subsequent long
lines, registration before Oct 15 is strongly encouraged. For information
on voting, registering, finding your polling place, see the MN Secretary of
State website at www.sos.state.mn.us

During the savings and loan crisis of the late ’80s and early ’90s, John McCain’s political favors and aggressive support for deregulation put him at the center of the fall of Lincoln Savings and Loan, one of the largest in the country. More than 23,000 investors lost their savings. Overall, the savings and loan crisis required the federal government to bail out the savings of hundreds of thousands of families and ultimately cost American taxpayers $124 billion.

Sound familiar?

In that crisis, John McCain and his political patron, Charles Keating, played central roles that ultimately landed Keating in jail for fraud and McCain in front of the Senate Ethics Committee. The McCain campaign has tried to avoid talking about the scandal, but with so many parallels to the current crisis, McCain’s Keating history is relevant and voters deserve to know the facts — and see for themselves the pattern of poor judgment by John McCain.

So at 11am today, October 6th, the Obama campaign is releasing a 13-minute documentary about the scandal called “Keating Economics: John McCain and the Making of a Financial Crisis” — it will be available at KeatingEconomics.com, along with background information that every voter should know.

OJ’S CONVICTION – THE MORNING AFTER

Brown family releases statement; Goldman dad ‘thrilled,’ defense team plots appeal.
The family of murder victim Nicole Brown Simpson issued a statement calling for privacy following Friday’s conviction of her ex-husband O.J. Simpson, who was found guilty of armed robbery and faces life in prison. Whether it’s admitted publicly or not, Black America is not fond of Black men, especially sports athletes and celebrities, who choose to marry white women. To be fair, neither is white America, who has had a hatred for O.J. since his murder acquittal 13 years ago.
