Mary Lee and Steve Harvey

Mary Lee and Steve Harvey

Comedian, and radio personality Steve Harvey is expected to be the subject of contempt of court charges to be filed in Plano, Texas today for Harvey’s failure to allow visitation of their 11-year -old son for whom the couple has joint custody, The Morning Show Update has learned. In an exclusive interview, Mary Lee Harvey says she has not been allowed to see her son since mid October even though the original order calls for visitations of at least two weekends a month.

Mary Harvey says child protection is at the heart of the petition and told The Morning Show Update she is filing the contempt to protect their son from his comedian father because of what she believes is child abuse.

October 14th, she says her son, who lives with Steve Harvey in the Atlanta area, came to visit Mary Lee Harvey at her Dallas area home. Harvey says it was during that visit when she noticed bruises and puncture marks on the child’s body. Those who examined the boy say the wounds were likely made by a belt buckle and the bruising from a paddle-like instrument.
A nurse examining the child at Plano Medical Center summoned police because of the severe nature of the injuries. A police report has not been made available to Mary Lee Harvey; however, she has corroborating medical reports from a child psychologist, a pediatrician and others who examined the child. Luckily Harvey says there was no internal damage done as a result of the alleged abuse.
In filing the petition today, Harvey called the process agonizing and worse than the couple’s 2005 divorce, adding that the comedian has failed to pay child support or court ordered alimony payments since the couple’s 2005 divorce.
