LL COOL J HAS ADVICE FOR THE PRESIDENT

LL Cool J

LL Cool J

Barack Obama may face many challenges as the country’s newest President, but LL Cool J has a bit of advice for the new Commander in Chief. In an open letter to Obama, the rap icon congratulates the politician on attaining his new position while acknowledging the tough road that lies ahead.
“The next chapter of your life has begun,” Cool J wrote. “The toughest decisions you will ever have to make lie in front of you. Decisions that will require you to choose between integrity and necessity enact the promises made to millions of people and recognize a change in perspective that will sometimes make those promises impossible to keep. Only you will be able to make those choices.” Cool J’s letter comes as Obama settles into his first full week in office. The former Chicago senator is currently trying to gain approval on an $825 billion economic stimulus package to help the country come out of the current recession.
According to reports, Obama says the plan will create up to 4 million new jobs over the next two years.
“You have shifted the cultural paradigm of America, but now you have to live up to the ideal that fostered the shift and work to ensure that the paradigm doesn’t shift back. You must deliver.”

JANET’S TOUR ENDURES MORE ISSUES

JANET

JANET

After the U.S. leg of her Rock Witchu tour was shut down due to an alleged bout of vertigo, Janet Jackson has now had to cancel the Japanese leg of the trek – this time due to the sinking global economy.
Jackson was due to launch five upcoming shows throughout Japan on Feb. 14 – including the major cities Osaka, Fukuoka and Nagoya. But concert promoter Kyodo Yokohama said the 42-year-old pop star was forced to scrap the concerts, “due to the impact of the economic crisis.” The gigs will now be rescheduled for sometime later in the year, ostensibly to give the market time to bounce back, and will be announced in March, reports E! Online.

PAULA TAKING ALL THE CREDIT

Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul, a six-time chart topper in the 1980s who sold over 23 million records worldwide, believes that her fame in the 1980s helped to lay the groundwork for such current pop superstars as Rihanna and Beyonce.

“My videos stand the test of time,” Abdul said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. “They are like the almanac for every performer. Even Rihanna has come up to me and said ‘I hope you don’t mind.’

“And Beyonce. You can see the influence of what I’ve done. It’s really fun to see that I’ve left a mark. It was my idea to create an animated character. It takes a lot of focus, a lot time, and a lot of money.”

Abdul took a musical hiatus in 2000, and subsequently relaunched her career as a judge on the hit TV talent show “American Idol.” She returned to the pop charts in 2008.
