The program is called the City of Minneapolis Business Technical Assistance Program (B-TAP)

  • Through B-TAP, the City contracts with local non-profit organizations focused on entrepreneur training and economic development to provide direct services to new and existing businesses.
  • Currently, we have 16 many providers. NEON is one of those providers.
  • Each provider is different that they might focus on a geographic area or offer specific cultural or language services.
  • Entrepreneurs interested in starting a business in Minneapolis and
  • Small- and medium-sized businesses located in Minneapolis

TAP provides services in 3 key areas including:

  • New Business Assistance
  • Business Expansion
  • General Business Assistance (or maintaining existing businesses)

New Business Assistance provides entrepreneurs help writing their business plan, reviewing leases, and connecting to financial resources.

NEON provides these services on behalf of the City

    • There are providers located all over the City and we have providers that specialize in certain things such as helping you get certified as a woman or minority-owned disadvantaged business.  This is important as with this certification you can be eligible for certain contracts with the government.
    • The entire provider list is available on the City website at www.minneapolismn.gov/cped-B-TAP or you can call 311 anytime and ask about the B-TAP program
