The Minnesota Timberwolves community is mourning the loss of head coach and president of basketball operations Flip Saunders. The team announced the 60-year-old died yesterday after battling cancer.

Two Minneapolis girls are safe after they were reported missing. Police say ten-year-old Isabella Marie Alm and 13-year-old Krysten Jo Zemlicka were found yesterday at a classmate’s house. The two were last seen Saturday in the 29-hundred-block of 36th Avenue South.

The average price of gasoline continues to fall.  According to a new Lundberg survey, the average price of regular unleaded dropped another ten-and-a-half cents in the past two weeks to two-dollars-24-cents per gallon.
A college student in Durham, North Carolina is recovering from a gunshot wound and police are looking for the shooter.  North Carolina Central University was on lockdown for about 40 minutes following the shooting late last night.

Just when you’d rightfully earned all the cool points for being the realest and funniest musician on Instagram, here comes Prince, joining the popular social media site like it was aBeyonce CD, with no announcement or promotion. He calls his account Princestagram though you can find it at the very simple @Prince. 


Rihanna’s publicist is apologizing for starting a rumor that could’ve split up Beyonce and Jay Z.  As previously reported, a new unauthorized biography titled “Becoming Beyonce” claims the couple was close to calling it quits over rumors that Jay Z was putting the moves on Rihanna.

Drake’s love for fashion is headed to a whole new level.  The rapper is being honored by Tom Ford with his very own lipstick shade as part of his “Lips & Boys” collection.  The color is a “deep burgundy shade,” and will be available October 30th as part of the 50-color collection.  Each shade is reportedly inspired by “notable men in the designer’s life.”

McDonald’s is testing sweet potato fries in select restaurants in Amarillo, Texas.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s said the fries will be available at 18 “Create Your Taste” test restaurants.

Microsoft’s new flagship store opens today on Fifth Avenue in New York City.  The newest of more than 100 U.S. Microsoft stores is described as the company’s premiere retail showcase.  It covers more than 22-thousand square feet on five floors.



“The Martian” is number-one at the box office as it successfully held off a handful of new films.  “The Martian” earned just under 16-million dollars over the weekend with holdover “Goosebumps” at number-two.  “Bridge of Spies”  was third as it took in close to eleven and a-half million bucks in its second weekend on screens.  “The Last Witch Hunter” debuted in fourth place and holdover “Hotel Transylvania 2” rounded out the top five.  “Steve Jobs” failed to impress as it took in just seven-point three million dollars in its nationwide release.

On ABC, “Good Morning America” kicks off the day with Vin Diesel, Toni Collette, Jeff Kinney and a performance by Ne-Yo.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” has David Spade, Mike Tyson and a performance by Blake Shelton.


The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” has Sienna Miller, Melissa Benoist and a performance by Chance the Rapper.

National Pumpkin Day is observed annually on October 26. People across the nation enjoy cake, pie, cookies, bars, pudding, coffee, smoothies, candy, breads. muffins, soups, cheesecake, oatmeal, lasagna and more, all made with delicious pumpkin.

Pumpkin (squash) is native to North America.

The oldest evidence of pumpkin-related seeds dates back to somewhere between 7000 and 5500 BC and were found in Mexico.

The word pumpkin originates from the word pepon, which is Greek for “large melon”.

Within recent years, white pumpkins have become more popular in the United States.

1.5 billion pounds of pumpkins are produced in the United States each year.

In September 2012 Ron Wallace’s  2,009 pound Atlantic Giant pumpkin in Rhode Island set the current world record.

Canned pumpkin may be recommended by veterinarians as a dietary supplement for dogs and cats that are experiencing certain digestive ailments.

Raw pumpkin can be fed to poultry as a supplement to their regular feed during the winter months to help maintain egg production.

Pumpkins are well known for being carved into  jack-o-lanterns at Halloween.
