Minneapolis Public Schools are taking a stand against violence.  Officials held a news conference yesterday to say it won’t be tolerated.  The announcement came after a gun was found in a student’s locker Monday at Patrick Henry High School.  Police records reveal that the student was allegedly overheard saying he was going to shoot someone after class.  That 16-year-old was arrested.

A Metro Transit police officer is out of a job after he was accused of hurting an autistic St. Paul teen.  Metro Transit officials say Richard Wegner was fired because he did not pass probation.

Authorities are going to be looking for answers today after a runaway military blimp caused a bit of a scare yesterday.  The high-tech surveillance blimp broke free from its mooring station at the Aberdeen Proving Ground outside Baltimore and at one point was being tracked by two F-16 fighter jets.  It finally came down in central Pennsylvania, about 130 miles northwest of Philadelphia.  Utility companies reported power outages after the blimp’s tether hit power lines.

The Timberwolves are 1-and-0 to start the NBA season.  Ricky Rubio scored 28 points and dished out 14 assists in Minnesota’s 112-to-111 victory over the Lakers last night in Los Angeles.  First-overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns totaled 14 points and 12 rebounds in his NBA debut.

 

 

The Kansas City Royals are halfway to their first World Series title in 30 years.  The Royals pounded the New York Mets, 7-1, last night to go up two games to none.  Johnny Cueto pitched a complete game two-hitter.  Kansas City scored four runs in the fifth and three more in the eighth.  Lucas Duda had both hits for the Mets, who will host Game Three Friday night.

The Nye County, Nevada Sheriff’s office has the results of Lamar Odom’s toxicology tests, but they aren’t being made public just yet.  Officials say the findings won’t be released until prosecutors complete their investigation.

Kanye West is showing off his “Yeezy Season 2 Collection Documentary.”  Kanye released the new documentary Wednesday, which takes viewers into the behind-the-scenes of his latest clothing collection.
Drake might have some competition for best dance moves of the year.  Kendrick Lamar released his latest music video on Wednesday for his track “These Walls,” where he shows off some moves of his own.

Vince Staples is in the middle of a social media storm after saying music from the 90s gets “too much credit.”  It all started during a recent interview with “Time” magazine where he said quote, “The 90s get a lot of credit, I don’t really know why. Biggie and Tupac, those are the staples of the 90s. That’s why they get the golden era credit.  There’s not a 50-Cent in the 90s.

Get ready to hear more of Adele’s new songs. The British singer will perform an hour-long special dubbed “Adele at the BBC.”  It’s being taped in front of a live audience “across the pond” next week.

Adele also has signed on as musical guest for NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” for November 21st.  Matthew McConaughey will host the episode that airs one day after “25” is released.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” followed by all-new episodes of “Scandal” and “How to get Away with Murder.”

National Oatmeal Day is observed annually on October 29. This is a day to enjoy one of America’s favorite breakfast foods.
