Here are today’s Words to the Wise; “Be an example of thankfulness for your children .”

During the holiday season children are bombarded with advertisements and messages in the media, that make it seem like Christmas is all about presents. For parents it can be hard to teach our children how to be grateful and thankful.

While it’s difficult to teach thankfulness, it can be done so long as parents focus on action. In order to get our children to shift their thinking we can do simple things that put it front and center.

Doing something as simple as developing a gratitude board, and having our kids write out what they are thankful for each day goes a long way. Another way is to give back. We can even look to the community and take our children along to help someone in need.

If our children see us expressing gratitude they’re more likely to learn how to express it themselves.
